So it was my birthday on Sunday (I'm a true Metric System baby, born on the 10th). I am now 35 years old, which seems to be Officially Old in the books of the world. I have to pick the next highest in the "age group" drop-box, which in some cases lumps me in with 55-year-olds.
Do I feel old? I do in some ways. A day of drinking or other dissipation now requires a day of recovery; in other words, I am now too old to party on a Sunday night.
However! I still have no grey hair, and my breasts are still pretty much where I left them at 25. I also have no wrinkles, thanks to early sun protection. People thought my mom was nuts when she slathered us with the crazy new "sunscreen lotion".
And what was my present? Mr. W spent two months in some of the coldest weather in 50 years to secure a Wii just in time for this weekend. He called every Best Buy in the city every day for that span of time. We also got two Wii Zappers so we could play Resident Evil and shoot the shite out of zombies. The Zapper's received many negative reviews, but let me tell you, if you're going to play any shooting games you must have one. Sure it's just a piece of plastic but here's a thought: a gun is designed to be aimed. Your aim will improve with the Zapper, especially if it's as craptastic as mine. Also it keeps your arms from wearing out from holding the Wii in the air.
Every day since I got the Wii my cow-orkers are impressed to see me returning to work. They keep expecting me to come down with the Wii-itis, kinda like a portion of our workforce came down with the Haloitis in the fall. So I guess I can't feel too old when I still get toys for my birthday. I can feel old again when I wake up sore from too much jumping around.
I have the following games:
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Wii Sports (obviously)
Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party (go ahead and laugh - it's fun and a workout. I'm buying a 2nd pad for dance-offs!)
Soul Calibur Legends (the one disappointment - we may sell this one)
The Sims 2: Castaway (a strangely quiet and meditative game)
And I still want to get a couple of Mario games - I can't wait for the new version of Mario Kart.
